The surprising stats show the city is worse off now in the category of murder than at the height of the era that has driven Chicago´s reputation for almost a century, Capone´s "gangland" Chicago...

Another Super Bowl in the can, and the official results are in. Beyoncé was hot, the commercials, not (with the exception of Chrysler’s odes to our military and farmers, butt they weren’t technically commercials). There was a delay of game penalty called due to a temporary brown-out in the Chocolate City. And, oh yes…the Ravens won!So from the top: did you see Beyoncé shaking her considerable Behindce all over the half-time show?...

There is an old saying about elections, who is voting is no as important as who is counting the votes. That election truism may also apply to the Gang of Eight immigration plan. According to the Democrats involved, Big mama, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano would have final say over whether the border has met the metrics for border security.
If Napolitano does not provide the green light for putting illegal immigrants on a pathway to citizenshipit will be delayed, but the chances of her saying no are very remote.

As the Second Half of yesterday´s Super Bowl game was into its second series of downs half the stadium mysteriously lost power and the game had to be delayed almost 40 minutes. Some people blame the electrifying half-time performance by Beyonce, many of the more liberal persuasion (jokingly) blamed Bush.
The play-by-play team was on the blacked out part of the stadium so CBS had to cut to commercial moments of the blackout before returning to a stadium in minor chaos. Players on both sides killed time by stretching and passing the ball while commentators talked their way through an

I remember 9-11 as if it were yesterday. The shock, the horror, the tears… the vows of ‘we will never forget.’ Evidently, Al Gore couldn’t be bothered with that memory. Money was way too important – bringing America to her knees was too tempting. He sold Current TV for a cool 500 million to Al Jazeera, because they had ‘aligned views.’ I’m sure they do. And as a benefit, the Goracle pocketed 100 million in blood money.
Now, we have opened our door to America to these terror vampires and invited them in of our own free will. Tell, me you

For too many, faith is something lying below the threshold of reason.
For too many, hope is seen to be a kind of giddy or naive optimism for a world where tragedy and sadness and evil are no more.
For too many, love is measured by how nice we are to the other, the nicer, the more loving, the less nice, the less loving.
Fr. Robert Barron speaks to the need to put some teeth back into these three theological virtues.

On December 10 last year more than a hundred civil rights groups organized as the Stand for Freedom coalition gathered ten to twenty members each to march in New York City to protest voting restrictions.
A number of commentators expressed surprise, and even disdain, to find the Communist Party U.S.A. marching shoulder-to-shoulder for voting rights along with representatives from the NAACP, ACLU, SEIU, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, the Hispanic Federation, the United Federation of Teachers, the Action Network, NOW, among many others.
