And speaking of survivors I just learned that Oskar, the Bismarck’s ship’s cat, survived the battleship’s sinking along with 115 out of 2200 crewmen. Oskar was rescued by the HMS Cossack. The destroyer was torpedoed and sunk six months later with the loss of 127 crewman. Oskar was taken off a piece of floating debris by crewmen of HMS Ark Royal.
