Dear Elites — no, Trump is not a fascist, but Hillary probably is

The hysterical screeds that self-styled “elite” Progressives are writing about Trump’s alleged fascism betray appalling historical and political ignorance. It’s time again, therefore, for an education about political systems. Before I begin, though, let me give you a perfect example of the shrill, uninformed rants from America’s supposedly educated class. This comes from the New Yorker’s Adam Gopnik: (Read more)

I’ll admit that I did not watch all of it, just snippets for a few minutes at a time. Reading the transcript, though, is very, very different from having seen it on TV. You truly lose the flavor, which, IMO, seemed angry and bellicose. Perhaps I missed the parts where Donald was soft. Rather than reinvent the wheel, let’s go to Leon Wolf at Red State

Trump’s acceptance speech reminded me why American people have fallen so powerfully for him. It’s because he speaks past the political platitudes, past the parts of our minds anesthetized by political correctness and the fear of being called out, and tells us the things that our minds, in the deepest recesses, know to be true. And because we’re Americans, what we know to be true isn’t some scary genocidal Nazi fantasy. Instead, what we know to be true is about law and order, national security, equality before the law, our shared values, the fact that science is not a political

The Hillary Bullshit Bingo game in this article will hopefully help those Americans who may tragically be moved to pop their own eardrums during the DNC when hearing the shrill, ´nails on a blackboard´ sound of Hillary Clinton´s voice! The same warning of course holds true for the voices of her minions who will appear onstage in addition to the shills in the mainstream media! Ted Cruz’s electrifying performance at the 2016 Republican National Convention will be long remembered, and deservedly so. At a critical moment, when the party of Lincoln had uncomfortably but nonetheless thoroughly embraced a lifelong Democrat/reality star/violence-abettor — and when few leading Republicans had demonstrated the courage to oppose him — Cruz did. Politicians live for the adulation of crowds, and it’s bracing, even thrilling, to see one stand up straight when suffering their jeers. Cruz was particularly effective because he dropped the Southern preacher style he affected during the primaries and spoke plainly.

Say what you will about Ted Cruz’s politics or personality, but it takes a special kind of chutzpah to stand up at a convention — in front of millions of viewers — and unfurl a comprehensive attack on the party’s nominee. It’s also unprecedented. On Wednesday night, Cruz gave a commanding and inclusive speech about conservative values. It was so good that the crowd forgot to boo until he was more than halfway finished.

The fascinating thing about Hillary Clinton’s lie that “African-Americans” are disproportionately killed by police is that she continues peddling it after the murders of three law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge, which followed the ambush killings of five officers in Dallas. In both cases, the murderers were black men apparently convinced that the cops were out to get black people and who, therefore, sought to exact revenge.

Chris Christie (I’m no big fan) gave perhaps one of the best speeches against electing Hillary Clinton so far. At the end of the day, that’s very much what this “dumpster fire” election is about: making sure Hillary is not president. For those who are #NeverTrump or I’m-not-sures, we aren’t quite sure what Trump really truly stands for nor what he will do. But, we know what Hillary stands for and what she will do

Last Friday, a splinter of the powerful Turkish military attempted a coup against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, an Islamist with a taste for the authoritarian. Erdogan has spent the past decade purging the military of secularists and integrating his own brand of radical Islam into government; in the process, he’s also accrued a $182 million fortune and three palaces, including a $650 million Saddam-esque monstrosity. He’s cracked down on journalists, gone soft on the Islamic State group and threatened to get rid of the constitutional court. He is, in short, an aspiring dictator.
